Tyler MurphyTyler Murphy was born in 1992 with fractures of both femurs and both humeri (upper arms). Dr. Albert saw Tyler in the nursery shortly after delivery and diagnosed him with Type III osteogenesis imperfecta – or brittle bone disease This condition causes Tyler’s to bones to break very easily and with little or no real apparent cause.Over the years Tyler has sustained many fractures and has undergone multiple surgeries. He had Bailey-Dubow expandable rods placed in both femurs and tibias so that as he grows, the rods will expand along with his bones and hopefully prevent further fractures of his legs. Tyler has also developed scoliosis (spinal curve) which we are closely monitoring. Tyler is an active and outgoing young man and has recently been selected as Ambassador to The Children’s Medical Center and has been involved in numerous activities with the hospital. For further information on osteogenesis imperfecta please refer to the Educational Link on our website or to directly contact our office.
