Personal Background
Shawn Marhelski was born in Scranton, PA, and grew up in Northeastern PA. He was enlisted in the USAF for ten years as both a surgical technologist and Orthopaedic Technician. While enlisted he obtained an Associates of Science in Surgical Technology through the Community College of the Air Force. After receiving orders to Wright-Patterson AFB in 1998 he began pursuing additional degrees through Sinclair Community College, while also working part time as an Orthopaedic Technician for both Children’s Medical Center, and the Orthopaedic Center for Spinal and Pediatric Care. He went on to complete an Associates of Science and Associates of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Sinclair Community College. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the USAF as a Staff Sergeant in 2004 he attended Kettering College of Medical Arts, in Kettering, OH. There, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Health Professions, Cum Laude, as well as a Masters of Science with Distinction in Physician Assistant Studies. Shawn is married to Megan Marhelski, a Hydrogeologist with MACTEC Environmental Engineering in Miamisburg, OH. They currently reside in Waynesville, OH, with their border collie, Gimli. He enjoys hunting, fishing, weight lifting, football, gardening and spending time with his wife.
