Personal Background
Dr. Mikutis was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He is a retired Colonel
in the United States Air Force Medical Corps with 21 years of Active Duty
service. When he retired, he had been Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wright-Patterson
Medical Center, the Air Forces second largest medical center, for a total
of seven years. He previously served as Chief consultant in Orthopaedics
for the Air Force Material Command. During his 21 years of service, Dr.
Mikutis was deployed to the Middle East, the former Yugoslavia, and Korea
which enhanced his international orthopaedic exposure. He has a special
interest in pediatric trauma and sports injuries as well as the history
of military orthopaedic surgery, especially during World War II. His other
interests include golf, scale modeling, military history and Tae-Kwon-Do.
He has earned a black belt certification from the International Tae-Kwon-Do
Federation and had previously been a long time instructor. He particularly
enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Susan Bernstein-Mikutis
and they have two children, Joshua and Amanda. Dr. Mikutis has practiced
Pediatric Orthopedics since 1992 after completing his fellowship and has
been on the staff of The Children’s Medical Center for over ten years.
